Job Description

You’ll collaborate closely with founders, engineers, and creative directors, applying best practices to deliver cohesive designs. By leveraging public design systems, you’ll streamline the creation of end-to-end solutions that are both efficient and impactful. The ideal candidate has a strong design background, a passion for exceptional user experiences driven by thorough UX research, and a proven ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.

We are looking for a student designer who can creatively apply design thinking to transform client ideas into impactful solutions. This individual will collaborate closely with the creative director to ensure designs align with the intended experience. The ideal candidate should remain open to new ideas and education-focused outcomes with a desire to learn more about the industry's best practices.

Our focus is on education-first outcomes, prioritizing research and meaningful discussions over perfection. We're looking for someone who is a fast learner, open to feedback, and eager to grow. Our goal is to support team members in achieving better outcomes than when they first joined, fostering both personal and professional growth. This opportunity is as much about learning and development as it is about compensation. It reflects our core values as a company and aligns with our broader mission as a team.

Responsibilities

Our company strategy prioritizes gathering feedback first and refining second. We focus on delivering customer-centric outcomes aligned with market validation. Our goal is to guide clients toward developing solutions and experiences that meet their customers' needs, ensuring every stakeholder in the creation process remains focused on turning great ideas into successful market outcomes.

  • Crafting seamless user journeys and engaging experiences across web, app, and digital platforms with a user-centric approach.
  • Conducting thorough UX research to inform design decisions, gathering feedback early and iterating based on real user and client insights.
  • Working closely with founders and a creative director to translate client ideas into functional, visually cohesive design solutions.
  • Partnering with engineers and other stakeholders throughout the design and development process to ensure designs are feasible and aligned.
  • Leveraging public design systems to build efficient, consistent end-to-end solutions rather than designing everything from scratch.

Requirements

  • Expected proficiency in Figma as the primary tool for UI design, prototyping, and collaboration, especially in a fully remote, cross-functional team structure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, critical for a team operating across multiple time zones and relying on clear, async collaboration.
  • Receptiveness to critique and iteration, as the role emphasizes an education-first mindset.
  • Ability to conduct and apply user research to guide design decisions.
  • A structured, problem-solving approach to transforming ideas into market-ready experiences using design thinking.

Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates located in North Carolina or along the East Coast, though this is not a requirement. As a fully remote team, we operate around the clock, with team members contributing across various time zones. Despite these differences, we maintain clear communication and seamless collaboration, ensuring success for the entire team.
